Only eleven runners have been confirmed to contest Saturday’s Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield Racecourse, offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Having returned to racing in competitive form this season, Bottle Of Smoke ($3.50) has opened as and maintained status as favourite in 2015 Angus Armanasco Stakes betting markets ahead of Marple Miss ($4.60) and Sabatini ($5) with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.
Will Bottle Of Smoke continue her perfect career start through the 2015 Angus Armanasco Stakes, or will one of her talented rivals find the line in the clear?
Sabatini was undoubtedly the standout performer for trainers Lee and Shannon Hope during the 2014 Spring Carnival, and after returning for an impressive victory a fortnight ago is more than worth consideration for an Angus Armanasco Stakes bet at current $5 odds for success. Finishing outside the places just once in her seven start career to date, the Street Cry filly charged home to win a minor over 1100m on August seventh before making a successful transition to black type racing when taking out the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) less than two weeks later. Ending her campaign third in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m), Sabatini hugged the rails and pushed clear of her rivals to win the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) first-up and appears primed for continued success this weekend.
Thinking Of You ($7)
Posting several impressive results of her own over spring, Thinking Of You only managed to beat one runner home in the Kevin Hayes Stakes first-up, but is sure to take plenty of benefit from the competitive hit-out. Claiming two wins and one minor place finish over her four start career, the daughter of Thorn Park won each of the Become A Young Member Maiden (1100m) and TMB Printing Handicap (1400m) upon resuming in spring before placing third in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) on October 4th. While allocated the wide barrier 10, jockey Luke Nolen is sure to find ideal running position early in the 2015 Angus Armanasco Stakes.
A half-sister to talented Group 1 winning sprinter Samaready, Samartested has returned to racing in competitive form this year and is more than worth consideration for a 2015 Angus Armanasco Stakes bet at current odds. Running second in a minor over 1200m on debut, the daughter of Testa Rossa claimed back-to-back victories in metro sprints in spring before returning to the paddock. Having steadily built to the task over three starts this time in, Samartested returned to the winner’s circle in the Mitty’s Handicap (1300m) on February 7th and is sure to post a competitive performance at Caulfield on Saturday.
