Amicus displayed a keen turn of foot to break through for a maiden victory at the highest level towards the end of her spring preparation, and without doubt leads 2015 Angus Armanasco Stakes nominations.

Debuting for third amongst classy company in the Big Sports Breakfast Plate (1100m) on February 26th last year, Amicus charged home to win the Hyland Race Colours Plate (1150m) on March 26th and returned to the paddock following a luckless run for sixth in the Group 3 Royal Randwick Stakes (1200m) on April 19th.

Running third in a minor over 1300m upon resuming in spring, the Fastnet Rock filly placed second in each of the Cove Hotel Handicap (1400m) on August 30th and Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) before comfortably winning the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) on October 11th.

Unable to figure when ninth in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) first-up on February 14th, a step-up to 1400m is sure to play into Amicus’s strengths this weekend.

Fontein Ruby posted several impressive results of her own over spring, and is sure to take valuable condition from an impressive performance for third in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) first-up on the 14th when lining up for Saturday’s Armanasco Stakes.

Taking out two minors back-to-back upon returning to competition in July, Fontein Ruby was unlucky to be blocked for a run and fifth in the TMB Printing Handicap (1400m), but responded in the best way possible when taking out each of the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) and Group 3 Caulfield Classic (2000m) in succession.

Placing sixth in the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) before failing to get the distance in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m), Fontein Ruby will be more than a chance of success in the 2015 Armanasco Stakes if allocated a favourable barrier on Wednesday.

Sabatini left a clear outsider in the Kevin Hayes Stakes first-up on February 14th, but displayed an exceptional turn of foot in the final straight to secure arguably her career-best victory to date, and will be looking to stamp her claims as a serious Australian Guineas contender with further success in the 2015 Angus Armanasco Stakes.

Securing three wins and as many minor places over her consistent seven start career to date, Sabatini won the 3.y.o Maiden Plate (1100m) at Bendigo on August 7th before charging home to bea a talented field in the Listed Quezette Stakes (1100m) on August 16th.

A final field and barrier draw for the 2015 Angus Armanasco Stakes is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
