Nominations for the 2011 Angus Armanasco Stakes have been released, which will take place as part of Caulfield’s Blue Diamond Stakes Day this Saturday February 26, 2011.
The $180,000 Angus Armanasco Stakes has seen an almost full field of 15 horses nominate this year to compete for a shot of Group 2 glory.
The 1,400 metre Angus Armanasco Stakes is a set weights race open to three-year-old fillies only.
Odds and betting information for the 2011 Angus Armanasco Stakes will be available shortly at Luxbet.
Peter Moody is the best represented trainer in the field, with four of his horses nominated for the 2011 Angus Armanasco Stakes.
Peter Moody’s Miss Gai Flyer will be hoping to make it two in a row after winning last weekend’s Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes at Caulfield.
The Flying Spur filly has won three of her seven starts to date and finished second in the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate in April last year.
Peter Moody’s other filly Zelsnitz is also amongst the nominations for the 2011 Angus Armanasco Stakes.
Zelsnitz has won two of her five career starts and has a win percentage of 40%.
Zelsnitz did not live up to expectations last start when the Snitzel filly finished fifth in the Kevin Hayes Stakes and will be hoping to finish well in the 2011 Angus Armanasco Stakes ahead of the 2011 Australian Guineas and the 2011 Newmarket Handicap for which she is also nominated.
Andrew Noblet’s Sistine Angel will also be looking to make amends after a disappointing first-up run in the Kevin Hayes Stakes on February 12, 2011.
The Testa Rossa filly finished 14th in the Kevin Hayes Stake’s 16 horse field.
Sistine Angel, who won both the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes and the Group 3 H.D.F. McNeil Stakes last preparation, will be looking for a better second-up performance in the 2011 Angus Armanasco Stakes.
Peter Snowden’s Divorces will be attempting to break a bad run after failing to finish better than eighth since winning the Group 3 Thousand Guineas Prelude in September last year.
Divorces will be first-up from a spell in the 2011 Angus Armanasco Stakes and will be moving back to the 1,400 metres she seems to like best, after failing over 2000 metres last start.
Also nominated for the 2011 Angus Armanasco Stakes is Peter Morgan’s Jesse’s Girl, Greg Eurell’s Pinker Pinker, John Thompson’s Jeter and Peter Moody’s Sayahailmary.
